Re-Structure will be looking at alternative and modes of cultural and knowledge production in the face of shrinking public funding. The aim is to develop and consider tactical solutions and also longer term sustainable alternatives. It will involve participants from the fields of circus, fashion, gaming, media and urban interventions but also aims to learn from cross-sectorial exchange. In this case, we will compare the independent cultural scene with the environmental NGO sector in Australia. The two other focal points of discussion will be the internet and cultural platforms as means and modes for self-organisation as well as the role of independent culture as driver for civil society.
Re-structure takes place synchronously to the MyCreativity.Sweatshop Conference in Amsterdam, a reality check of the creative class organised by Institute of Network Cultures in Amsterdam. Skype and live stream exchange between these two conferences and the curating of a related online art exhibition are intended here.
